Slovácko’s footballers, under the leadership of their new coach Dekař and with the two youngsters in the team’s line-up, Perůtka and Kerbr, gained a valuable victory, which kept alive their hopes of promotion to the first league. During most of the match Slovácko dominated the playing field but the victory was finalised only 20 minutes before the end.Slovácko started the game aggressively and, from the very first minute, the game was played mainly in Vítkovice’s half of the field. However, the guests were the first to have a serious chance, when after a cross from Mikulenka, Prohaszka attempted to score. However, his header finished up passing above Petr Bolek’s goal-mouth. Slovácko succeeded in scoring as early as the 12th minute, when goalkeeper Kraus was unable to hold the ball from Šultes’ penalty kick and Chmelíček scored easily from right on the line, 1:0 Till the half-time break the home players had no further success; after changing sides the guests increased their pressure and in the 52nd minute Doležal equalised with his header. However, Slovácko was not set back by this goal against them and the players continued to push forward in attack. Slovácko did not slow their pace until the successful header by back Lysoňek, to which goalkeeper Kraus was unable to respond, 2:1. Vítkovice had two more chances to equalise but they were pounced on by the watchful goalkeeper Bolek. Definitive assurance of victory came with Slovacko’s third goal, scored after a solo break by Chmelíček who was driven home by Michal Gonda. “The last two days I was very nervous; I did not eat much,” admitted Dekař who, before his promotion to the second-league team, was in charge of Slovácko juniors. “We managed to start the match very strongly, we simply wanted to push hard against our rivals and we managed to score. Ineman also had a chance. But then we relaxed our attention and the guests equalised but their goal did not bring us to our knees, rather the opposite,“ Dekař affirmed. “We have promotion within our reach,“ the Slovácko coach added in conclusion. “The new coach brought us fresh impetus. He made strategic changes in the team, and though it was not directly based on that, his strategy was successful. It was one of our most difficult matches but after the victory we are again totally back in the competition for promotion,“ commented Aleš Chmelíček, the instigator of the two goals. Goals: 12. a 83.
